RBHS Chancellor Awards for Staff
Sustained Service Award (up to 6 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Nominations are encouraged for staff at all levels across RBHS. Staff must be employed full-time (1.0 FTE).
Criteria:
Nominations of staff at all levels and who work across all mission and service areas are strongly encouraged.
Nominees should:
- Go above and beyond to deliver quality service to faculty, staff, learners, patients, and all others they interact with within the professional setting.
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission and values of RBHS through superior service (both internal and external), professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude.
- Understand how their work is integral to the success of RBHS and consistently strive to do their best, even when their work may be behind-the-scenes.
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from department chair or other unit leader detailing how the nominee meets the criteria above (2-page limit)
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 2 additional letters of support. One should be from the supervisor if they are not the nominator (1-page limit per letter)
Emerging Leader Award (up to 1 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Staff must be employed full-time (1.0 FTE).
Criteria:
Nominees should:
- Have at least five years of work experience at RBHS.
- Be recognized as a stellar institutional citizen with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of RBHS.
- Go above and beyond routing job expectations by taking initiative and inspiring others to work collaboratively and creatively to advance the mission of RBHS and the university.
- Demonstrate a high potential for success including leading by example, mentoring, transferring knowledge, seek opportunities to engage broadly in RBHS and the University.
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from department chair or other unit leader detailing how the nominee meets the criteria above (2-page limit)
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 2 additional letters of support. One should be from the supervisor if they are not the nominator (1-page limit per letter)
Leadership Award (up to 1 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Staff must be employed full-time (1.0 FTE).
Criteria:
Nominees should:
- Ideally, have between 8-12 years of professional experience and supervise at least two employees.
- Be recognized as a stellar institutional citizen with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of RBHS.
- Have a record of achievement in creating a positive and productive work environment for employees and co-workers, and be recognized as a positive force and team-builder outside his/her own unit
- Exhibit innovative leadership skills by fostering positive change, team building and creating a culture of service and excellence for their team.
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from another leader or staff member detailing how the nominee meets the criteria above (2-page limit)
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 3 additional letters of support. If the nominator is not the supervisor, one should be from the nominee’s supervisor. If the nominator is not a staff member reporting to the nominee, at least two of the letters should be from a staff member. (2-page limit per letter)
Team Award (up to 1 team will be selected)
Eligibility:
Team to include a minimum of three full-time staff (1.0 FTE)
Criteria:
Nominated teams may work in any mission or service area and should be:
- Comprised of individuals from one unit or a cross-functional team. A team may be recognized for its performance of the normal duties of the unit or as a result of a specific project.
- A high-performing team that maximizes the individual strengths of its team members and models effective teamwork through cooperation, collaboration, and communication.
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the team. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from department chair or other unit leader detailing how the team meets the criteria above (2-page limit)
- CV/resumes of nominated team members
- 2 additional letters of support (1-page limit)
Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award (up to 2 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Staff (1.0 FTE) may be considered for this award.
Criteria:
The nominees shall be champions for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion who demonstrate:
- Sustained contributions, leadership, and/or active commitment to promoting opportunities and enhancing engagement for diverse learners, staff, faculty, patients, and communities.
- Efforts to foster a more inclusive culture and climate that promotes success for all.
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from primary nominator detailing how the nominee has demonstrated excellence as a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion highlighting the impact of the specific contributions of the nominee (2-page limit)
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 2 additional letters of support (1-page limit per letter)
Community Service Award (up to 2 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Staff (1.0 FTE) may be considered for this award.
Criteria:
The nominee would have a record of sustained excellence in serving the community outside Rutgers that includes:
- Demonstrated lasting and meaningful contribution or impact on the community(ies) served
- Recognized as a role model for others through their compassionate commitment to service to others
- Significant contributions to the community(ies) through their time, actions, and dedication
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from department chair or other unit leader detailing how the nominee meets the criteria above (2-page limit)
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 2 letters of support from members of the external community served (1-page limit per letter)
- 1 letter of support from within the Rutgers community (1-page limit)
Staff Mentoring Award (up to 2 staff will be selected)
Eligibility:
Staff (1.0 FTE) who mentor staff, students and/or trainees may be considered for this award.
Criteria:
Exceptional mentoring record evidenced by:
- Length and breadth of the nominee’s mentoring and career development activities
- Impact of the mentoring activities on the career trajectories, successes, and bodies of work of the mentees
- Unique aspects of the mentoring and training activities that have contributed broadly to the missions of RBHS
- Nominees who participated in the RBHS Staff Mentoring Program as a mentor or peer mentor will be strongly considered
Materials for Nomination:
- Completed application form including a 20 word or less descriptor of why you are nominating the individual. It will be used in the announcements should the nominee be selected.
- Letter from nominator detailing the overall strengths of the nominee as a mentor (2-page limit). Nominator could be a mentee, supervisor, or colleague.
- CV/Resume of nominee
- 2 additional letters of support (1-page limit per letter). At least one letter should be from the supervisor (if not the nominator) and at least one letter should come from a mentee.
