    RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception


    Congratulations on your appointment and welcome to Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS)!


    The Chancellor’s Welcome Reception will offer you the opportunity to meet other new faculty, as well as senior RBHS leadership. The event will begin with a luncheon.  There will be a welcome and remarks from the Provosts, including a discussion of the appointments and promotion and tenure processes. Following, senior leaders will give brief introductions and resource overviews of their areas of responsibility. These presentations will include information about student affairs, research, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and faculty development and mentoring. There will also be a Leadership Panel Q&A where new faculty will be encouraged to ask questions of the panelist on a wide variety of topics.  The Chancellor will be present to welcome you, as well as give an overview of RBHS.  Closing out the afternoon, there will be time for networking, information sharing, and asking specific questions of senior leaders in their areas of oversight.

    This event takes up to two times each year with the next scheduled Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Noon until 3:00 p.m.  The location is the Rutgers Club, 85 Avenue E, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

    Am I required to attend?
    Newly hired faculty in full-time, paid positions at RBHS are expected to attend as their schedule allows.  This is a prime opportunity to meet new other new faculty and RBHS senior leadership.
    Where will this event take place?
    The November 1 reception will take place at the Rutgers Club, 85 Avenue E, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

    A reception in the Spring will be held in Newark – info TBA.

    Is there a virtual option?
    The Welcome Reception is in-person only. If you are a new faculty member with a fully remote position and you have any questions, please reach out to RBHS Faculty Affairs.
    What will be covered?
    The Welcome Reception event is an introduction for new faculty to learn more about the RBHS community and important policies, resources, and departments that will help them be successful.

    Attendees will be provided lunch and will hear from senior leadership on the RBHS mission, cultural values, processes for career advancement, mentoring, and support services. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other faculty, staff, and administrators across schools and disciplines within RBHS.

    Is this the same thing as the New Employee Orientation?
    No, New Employee Orientation is hosted by University Human Resources and is required for all new employees at the university. Some schools and institutes may also host orientation programs for their new faculty.

    The RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception focuses on networking, introductions to senior leadership, and topics relevant to all faculty at RBHS and has been designed to complement any school- or institute-based programs.

    How do I attend?
    The Office of Faculty Affairs will communicate these opportunities via email with eligible faculty.

    New faculty must register to attend the RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception event. Note: These in-person events have space restrictions so registration may close when a particular event date has reached its maximum number of attendees.  Register here.
