RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception
Congratulations on your appointment and welcome to Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS)!
The RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception is hosted as an opportunity to meet new faculty members and build community within RBHS. The event kicks off with a luncheon and introductions with the Chancellor and members of the senior leadership team. Following introductions, senior leaders will give brief area and resource overviews including the appointment and promotions and tenure processes, diversity and inclusion initiatives, faculty development and mentoring, research resources, and student services. There will also be a Leadership Panel Q&A where new faculty are able to ask questions of the panelist on a wide variety of topics. Closing out is a reception hour intended for networking, information sharing, and asking specific questions of senior leaders in their areas of oversight.
This event takes place a few times each year with the next scheduled Welcome Reception on April 24, 2023 on the 15th floor of the Stanley Bergen Building in Newark.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I required to attend?
Newly hired faculty in full-time, paid positions at RBHS are expected to attend an orientation any time after accepting an offer through the first year of employment. For April 24, 2023, all faculty hired after January 1, 2022 are encouraged to attend.
Where will this event take place?
New faculty may select which Welcome Reception to attend and are not required to select one on their home campus. The April 24, 2023. Welcome Reception will be held in Newark. As we get closer to the event, specific location details will be updated and shared with registrants.
Is there a virtual option?
At this time, the Welcome Receptions are hosted in-person only. If you are a new faculty member with a fully remote position and you have any questions, please reach out to RBHS Faculty Affairs.
What will be covered?
The Welcome Reception event is an introduction for new faculty to learn more about the RBHS community and important policies, resources, and departments that will help them be successful.
Attendees will be provided lunch and will hear from the senior leadership team on the RBHS mission, cultural values, processes for career advancement, mentoring, and support services. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other faculty, staff, and administrators across schools and disciplines within RBHS.
Is this the same thing as the New Employee Orientation?
No, New Employee Orientation is hosted by University Human Resources and is required for all new employees at the university. Some schools and institutes may also host orientation programs for their new faculty.
The RBHS Chancellor’s Welcome Reception focuses on networking, introductions to senior leadership, and topics relevant to all faculty at RBHS and has been designed to complement any school- or institute-based programs.
