New Faculty Orientation
Welcome to RBHS
New Faculty Orientation
Congratulations and welcome to Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS)!
New Faculty Orientation is an event to welcome new faculty as members of the RBHS community. This event was designed to familiarize new faculty with resources, policies, initiatives, and opportunities that support faculty development and success here at RBHS.
This event takes place a few times each year with the next one scheduled for April 24, 2023 (Newark).
While early attendance is encouraged, new faculty may select to attend an orientation any time after accepting an offer through the first year of employment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I required to attend?
Newly hired faculty in full-time, paid positions at RBHS are expected to attend an orientation any time after accepting an offer through the first year of employment.
Where will this event take place?
New faculty may select which orientation to attend and are not required to select one on their home campus. As we get closer to the event, specific location details will be updated and shared with registrants.
Is there a virtual option?
At this time, the orientation events are hosted in-person only. If you are a new faculty member with a fully remote position and you have any questions, please reach out to RBHS Faculty Affairs.
What will be covered?
The orientation event is an introduction for new faculty to learn more about what it means to be a member of the RBHS community and important policies and resources that will help them be successful.
Attendees will be provided lunch and information will be provided on the RBHS mission, cultural values, processes for career advancement, mentoring, and support services, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet other faculty, staff, and administrators across schools and disciplines within RBHS.
Is this the same thing as the New Employee Orientation?
No, New Employee Orientation is hosted by University Human Resources and is required for all new employees at the university. Some schools and institutes may also host orientation programs for their new faculty.
The RBHS-level New Faculty Orientation focuses on topics relevant to all faculty at RBHS and has been designed to complement any school- or institute-based programs.
Note: Faculty on the New Brunswick campus also have the additional opportunity to attend the New Faculty Orientation event and workshop series hosted by the NB Office of the Provost.
How do I attend?
The Office of Faculty Affairs will communicate these opportunities via email with eligible faculty.
New faculty must register to attend the New Faculty Orientation event. Note: These in-person events have space restrictions so registration may close when a particular event date has reached its maximum number of attendees.
