Rutgers Health Vice Chancellor
Sangeeta Lamba, MD, MS-HPEd
Dr. Sangeeta (Gita) Lamba leads an integrated portfolio that brings together our commitment to build supportive work and learning environments with our commitment to teaching excellence. As the Rutgers Health Vice Chancellor for Engagement and Teaching Excellence, she plays a role shaping the future of teaching, learning, and engagement across our campus. Her position addresses key recommendations that emerged from our Fall 2024 Chancellor’s leadership retreat, which focused on education, and aligns several goals within the Rutgers Health Strategic Plan.
Dr. Lamba provides leadership and strategic direction to strengthen engagement and support for all our campus community members, including faculty, staff, and learners. Responsible for innovative and successful initiatives like the Advance-Engage-Mentor program for early career faculty support and the Staff Mentoring Program, as well as several annual events to promote connection and networking, Dr. Lamba continues to work with faculty, learners, and staff leaders across our academic units to foster initiatives that build a campus culture where all feel valued, respected, and supported.
Dr. Lamba also works closely with faculty and staff leaders in the learning environments across our academic units and clinical partner sites to establish and lead efforts for the HEALS Academy (Health-Profession Educators Advancing Learning and Scholarship). The HEALS Academy supports and celebrates health professions/sciences educators, scholars, and learner-supporting staff by fostering teaching innovation, educational scholarship, and professional development.
Dr. Lamba brings strong expertise in health professions education and in leading strategic initiatives in engagement. She received a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions, and she has held several educational leadership roles, including Associate Dean of Education at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (2012-2019). She has an outstanding track record of working with peers across Rutgers Health, Rutgers University, and nationally, on collaborative projects to support educators and advance innovation in education.
In this role Dr. Lamba furthers our commitment to building supportive work and learning environments as well as the many forms of engagement that define our public mission in teaching, research, career building support, and service.
