Joint Statement by the University and the AAUP-BHSNJ Announcing Collective Negotiations Agreement
The University and the AAUP-BHSNJ, the union that represents 1,400 faculty members at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences (RBHS), are proud to announce that they have reached a tentative collective negotiations agreement that covers the period of July 1, 2018 through July 31, 2022. The Agreement contains numerous first-time provisions, including provisions that set higher minimum benchmarks for compensation; integrate the compensation of NJMS faculty into the contract; provide new and enhanced incentives for research faculty; provide for parental leave, academic freedom and sabbaticals; and establish a process for consideration of pay equity adjustments. Significantly, we were able to finalize this Agreement during our nation’s deepening pandemic. This Agreement will go a long way towards supporting medical faculty employed by the University and represented by the AAUP-BHSNJ – doctors and other healthcare professionals who have served heroically treating COVID-19 patients during this national crisis. The AAUP-BHSNJ and the University look forward to working collaboratively in the coming years and building RBHS into a world class academic medical center.
